Pod_Saturdays + Downtownsounds Presents:
THE UNABOMBERS (Electric Chair, Manchester)
Date: November 26th, Pod, Harcourt Street.

The Unabombers are Luke Cowdrey and Justin Crawford. The ‘Electric Chair’ club night and the Unabombers have been accorded cult status for their monthly night of madness and mayhem, and their reputation grew hand in hand with the success of the club, which the pair started together back in 1995, but closed its doors in January 2008. Nevertheless, the electric ethos is still going strong, namely at their Electric Elephant beach boat festival in Croatia. The Unabombers have taken their sound around many of the country’s and the world’s finest clubs, and DJ’d with a ‘who’s who’ of the world’s best, such as Danny Krivit, FK, Joe Claussell, Carl Craig, Theo Parrish, Harvey, Metro Area and the list goes on… Central to their sound is the open-minded music policy of the Unabombers.

Their sets are characterised by a flow through genres with everything from house, disco, hip hop, broken beat, latin, r’n’b and techno thrown into the pot, and making the links between quality music with a rich vein of funk and soul. Their band the Elektrons made a record and did a full live tour, while their compilations like Electric Soul and Electric Chair Saved My Life became sought-after accessories to the fact. The Unabombers have completed remixes for artists such as Trby Trio, NSM, and Calvin Harris, and Justin Crawford also records as Only Child for the renowned Grand Central label.
